New Classes for Sept & Oct are posted!!

Class Policies:

· Sign ups will begin on Monday Aug 9 at 7 pm for Sept & Oct classes. Interested in an Aug class? Check there may still be openings.  For a copy of our current newsletter, please click here.

· You may only sign up two people for each class/event (i.e. yourself & a friend)

· Class fee must be paid at time of registration.

· Telephone registrations will be held for payment for one week.

· Please get supply lists in advance. Most classes require some preparation.

· Please purchase supplies at our shop. (This helps if there is a cutting “oops” and you need more fabric!)

· 10% discount will be given on all fabrics, books, patterns, and notions for class projects.

· Class credit will be given if we are notified of cancellation at least ONE WEEK in advance. Sorry, NO REFUNDS.

· If class is full, please put your name on waiting list. *Waiting list people will be contacted first if class is repeated at a later time.

· If you like a class, but cannot make the time it is scheduled, please call to put your name on a waiting list specifying "different date".

Saturday Classes

Margo Handbag —This newly designed pattern by Lazy Girl features a secure zippered closure (and is really easy to assemble!), shoulder length handles, 2 handy outside plus 6 inside pockets to keep you organized. My Paris Tote —This bag has all the room you need for that weekend getaway! Fully lined with adjustable straps and an outside pocket, this bag will take you on many adventures. Take To Class Bag —A much requested tote bag measuring 27” x 22”, this fully-lined pieced bag will hold your rulers, mat and all your sewing necessities. Messenger Bag —Elaine Huffman has graciously agreed to make a return appearance to teach her pattern for a Messenger Bag. Timing is perfect for this back to school must have! Quilt Appraisal Day —Lois Palmer, a certified Quilt Appraiser, will be at our store to appraise your quilts—new or old. 1/2 hour appointments available. $40 for a written appraisal (required by insurance companies) or $20 for a verbal appraisal. Saturday, Sept 18 10-4

Savanna Quilt —Using the new “Curves for Squares” ruler, create a spin on the look of a half-square triangle by layering a mix of light and dark squares, cutting, shuffling and sewing on a curve. This class is recommended for quilters with some experience beyond beginning quilting since the curves offer a challenge. Pattern and ruler purchase required. Saturday, October 2 10-4 with Mindy $30.00

Star Studded Wall Quilt —Thimbleberries new pattern makes a great addition to your holiday decorating when done in reds and greens. Choose other color combinations for other decorating. Finished size is approx. 54” X 58”. Pattern purchase required. Buy a little extra fabric and use portions of this quilt to make a great table runner to coordinate. Rotary cutting experience required. Quilted Jacket —We are honored to have Maureen Egan join us again for one of her wonderful quilted jacket classes. Jacket can be made from pre-quilted fabric or you can quilt your own before class. Circular Patchwork —If you like the look of cathedral window quilts but not a fan of the hand-sewing, then this quilt is for you! Join us to learn how this can be done quick and easy on the machine. Your choice to make it scrappy or have a more planned look. Pattern purchase and template purchase required. Saturday, October 30 10-4 with Sue $30.00

Weekday Classes

Beginning Quilting —This class will introduce you to the basic techniques of quilting while creating 3 wonderful projects. Classes will include the safe and proper use of the rotary cutter (needed for nearly all quilting projects of today), and achieving a 1/4 inch seam. Beginning Quilting will prepare you for nearly all classes presented at Quilts and Treasures, Inc. We’ll be happy to help you choose your fabrics. Class discount on all class supplies.

Introduction to Machine Quilting —This introductory class in Machine Quilting will teach you how to use your sewing machine to achieve beautiful results as an alternative to tying your quilts. The class will cover cross hatching, echoing, stippling, and other free motion techniques. Walking foot and darning (stippling) foot for your machine required. Quarter inch foot is helpful. If you need help in getting them, please let us know.

Classic Quilting IV—Cathedral Window– Learn this age old pattern while making a pincushion. Quick, easy and lots of fun. A perfect “tote along” project. Thurs Sept 30 6:30-8:30 pm with Valerie $15.00

4DSuite Software - This session will cover “intro” type exercises using the 4D Design Creator for creating a “Dream Hoop” design and a quick look at using the 4D Design Aligner to split larger designs to stitch out. Tues Sept 28 6:30-8:30 with Maryanne $15.00

Embroidery Potpourri— A great opportunity to work on those unfinished embroidery projects and have someone available for those quick questions or problems.

Youth & Teen Classes

These classes are designed for Youth ages 9-15 who have an interest in sewing and quilting. All rotary cutting will be done by an instructor. Youth will learn to operate a sewing machine, keep straight seam allowances, and follow patterns. Purchase of patterns and materials are required and receive a 10% class discount. Classes are all from 1-4 pm on the day listed and are $15.00 each . Enrollment is limited to give more individualized attention. It is our hope that all will go home with finished projects. Any questions, please ask.

Pillowcases —Wednesday, Aug 11—this quick and easy project is a favorite of both youth and adults. Students can make one for themselves and leave with the knowledge to make more for their friends and family.

Little Glam Bag —Wednesday, Aug 18—this cute little pocketbook will introduce a zipper application. Use fun fabrics to make it great for school or more serious fabrics for a more grown up look.

What a Novel Tote —Wednesday, Aug 25—perfect for going back to school. This tote bag will hold a few books, your lunch, and other accessories. Customize with your choice of fabrics. No one will believe you made it!

Midnight Madness

Join us for an evening of fun, food, laughter, and sewing! These are great evenings to work on or finish projects, meet other sewers, and get some inspiration. We “lock” you in from 6 pm to midnight. You bring your own sewing machine and projects with a munchie to share. We provide the pizza. Doorprizes!

PFAFF 5-D Embroidery Event! Friday, October 29, 2010

This just came in as we were going to press!!!! I reserved the date but won’t have many more details until after I come back from Pfaff convention! Hopefully, I’ll have them for the night of sign-ups. So if you think you might be interested in attending this event with a Pfaff Educator or would like more information, please indicate your interest when you sign up for classes!

Batik Club

This energetic and creative group meets every other month on a Friday evening to share and exchange ideas for sewing and quilting with beautiful Batik Fabrics! $50 Annual Dues (6 meetings) Year runs Sept-Aug.

Scrap Club

Openings exist in the Thursday evening section of this fun and innovative club. The focus is on using the scraps in your stash and each month there’s a free block pattern and hands-on sewing time so you can learn the techniques for making the block. $50 for 6 meetings—Sept thru Feb

Hoop Sisters

Group B is now forming! Response has been so overwhelming for the “In-The-Hoop” embroidery project that we decided to start another round. If you missed out on the first one, now’s your chance! We are making the “Textures and New Techniques” (TNT) quilt using the “EmbroidaBlock” technique by Hoop Sisters designs. You choose your own fabrics and threads (we’ll help of course!) so your quilt will be uniquely your own! All embroidery formats are supported.

$100 prepaid for 10 months (or $12.50 per month) includes the embroidery designs. Attendance at monthly meeting required.

Introductory meeting: Sunday, September 12 1-5 pm Monthly meetings will be on Tuesday evenings.

Quilt For A Cure Day  Saturday, September 25, 2010 10-4

This is our annual event to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. We have had wonderful days in the past and we expect no less this year! Pre-register by September 18 to guarantee a registration goodie bag.* Registration is $20.
